Sponsored by the World Sleep Foundation the at Home Sleep Study website was established to provide educational resources that inform patients, medical professionals and the general public about the latest clinical advances, management and treatment options for sleep disorders.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, a division of US federal agency which administers Medicare, Medicaid, and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program recently published a National Decision Memo on March 13, 2008 that approves a limited number unattended home sleep testing using Type II, Type III and Type IV portable testing devices as qualification for CPAP therapy for those that qualify.

Commercial insurers are now starting to follow Medicare lead by introducing similar policies for approval for at home sleep study.
